The GTIL is a technical and vocational high school which organises education in the fields of mechanics, electricity, electromechanics and engineering. It is situated in Londerzeel, on the rural outskirts of Brussels. It has approximately 390 pupils and 70 staff members.
The GTIL offers a school environment where students can be themselves. Here young people learn to interact better with each other and with their motivated teachers. They learn to deal with their studies and activities, their surroundings and the environment. We offer a modern school environment, with teachers who care about their students.
The GTIL considers respect as an important value. Developing and growing yourself is an ongoing process of trial and error: that is why our personal approach is so important. Especially the good dialogue between pupil and teacher on the one hand and between teacher and parents on the other are central to achieving the desired results.
In order to stimulate the intended growth process, without alienating it from social reality, we believe it is essential to combine the learning process with exciting challenges such as excursions, workshops, project weeks, internships, sports, internationalization, University-visits, etc.
Our school has six STEM disciplines, three of which are at technical level and three at vocational level. Our teaching method has an interdisciplinary approach. For several years we have been working together with scientists-technicians and the last two years it only increased with several citizen science collaborations. We feel privileged to participate in the Britec-project.
